Links of Interest

one big link

A variety of sites of interest to me on things academic, philosophical, aesthetics, humorous, or personal are listed here.

The Southwestern Philosophical Society (SWPS) is an association of scholars and philosophers founded in 1936. SWPS provides a forum for philosophical and scholarly research and originally served philosophers in the American Southwest; it has been for many years a national and international society. I am a Past President.

The Society for the Advancement of American Philosophy (SAAP). The purposes of the Society for the Advancement of American Philosophy are to promote interest and research in the history of American Philosophy, to encourage original, creative work in the spirit of that tradition, and to provide a forum for the exchange of information and ideas on American Philosophy. Of SPECIAL NOTE are a resources page (with societies, audio podcasts, and journals) and a teaching resources page (with syllabi, notes, handouts, etc.).

Nordic Pragmatist Network. Pragmatism has in recent years attracted a number of Nordic philosophers and scholars working in different fields within philosophy and related subjects in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. Initiated in 2006, the Nordic Pragmatism Network aims at bringing these scholars together and establishing contacts both inside and outside the Nordic countries.

There has also been much recent activity in Italy around pragmatism and American philosophy. One important association there is Associazione Pragma, here: http://www.associazionepragma.com/

I have a presence at Academia.edu, here: http://ucdenver.academia.edu/DavidHildebrand, and a small one at University of Colorado Denver, here: http://clasfaculty.ucdenver.edu/dhildebrand/

I had a reasonably good page on Dewey at http://www.johndewey.org and one on neopragmatism at http://www.neopragmatism.org before they were hacked. I'm starting to revitalize them.

There's a nice profile of me here: http://www.ucdenver.edu/academics/colleges/CLAS/Departments/philosophy/Research/researchprofiles/Pages/hildebrand.aspx

Our department has a health speaker series which I've planned and participated in from time to time. A partial list of those talks is here. The active page is here.
